Polly Shindler
Windows
April 5 - May 11, 2024
Opening Reception: April 5th 6-8PM
Deanna Evans Projects is pleased to present Windows, a solo exhibition of new paintings by Hudson Valley-based artist, Polly Shindler. This is Shindler’s first solo exhibition with the gallery and will be on view from April 5 - May 11, 2024.
In this series, Shindler investigates the lives of others. Her work stems from a curiosity in relationships between people as well as lives not lived. The paintings aim to depict a vision of time. By representing both day and night, interior and exterior, summer and winter, sunshine and rain, Shindler’s work highlights the daily differences that define our life experience.
Majority of the works in the exhibition use windows to delineate between being in one place and observing another. Windows are built to create a relationship to the world, both as protection and perception. Through them we can view an unfamiliar world, with only our proximity in common. We bear witness to others’ lives through windows. We peek into neighbors’ homes and get a glimpse of their belongings and routines. We watch our neighbors, they watch us, and we all mark the passage of time.
