Michael Gac Levin, Talking Married, 2024, Oil on canvas, 20 x 24 in, 50.8 x 61 cm

Michael Gac Levin

Michael Gac Levin was born in Los Angeles in 1984. The artist received an MFA from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York in 2015 and a BA from the University of Chicago in Illinois in 2006. His paintings evoke the mystery and the intensity of childhood, while simultaneously exploring present predicaments and an uncertain future. Riding a wobbly line down into memory, the artist creates reflective, dreamlike compositions that depict a world where everything is animate and purposeful, yet mute and inscrutable. At the core of Levin’s work is a lighthearted, diaristic drawing practice guided by repetition and humor.
