Ian Stone

Ian Stone was born in Laval, Quebec in 1982. His subject matter has always been figurative, with the self-portrait dominating his early work. Stone’s fine art studies started in 2001 at the Nova Scotia Craft Art and Design University. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Print-media. In 2004 He continued his explorations with a master’s degree at Concordia University, adding painting to his visual vocabulary. Ian has shown internationally and his work is found in the collections of the Florida State University Museum and the National Palace of Culture in Sofia, Bulgaria. His current portrait work focuses on gay/queer self-representation. More specifically, how men are advertising themselves to others on social media, gay dating and hook-up aps.
